Sorah Al-Ma'un ( Small Kindnesses ) - Verses Number 7

أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي يُكَذِّبُ بِالدِّينِ ( 1 )

Have you seen the one who denies the Recompense?

فَذَٰلِكَ الَّذِي يَدُعُّ الْيَتِيمَ ( 2 )

For that is the one who drives away the orphan

وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ ( 3 )

And does not encourage the feeding of the poor.

فَوَيْلٌ لِّلْمُصَلِّينَ ( 4 )

So woe to those who pray

الَّذِينَ هُمْ عَن صَلَاتِهِمْ سَاهُونَ ( 5 )

[But] who are heedless of their prayer -

الَّذِينَ هُمْ يُرَاءُونَ ( 6 )

Those who make show [of their deeds]

وَيَمْنَعُونَ الْمَاعُونَ ( 7 )

And withhold [simple] assistance.

Evolution of FiqhThe author says in the introduction of the second edition, “The overall purpose of this book is to acquaint the reader with the historical factors behind the formulation of Islamic law (Fiqh), in order that he or she may better understand how and why the various schools of Islamic law (Madh-habs) came about.
